Top Positive Review
I eat super healthy…and this Ninja model really has helped
I dislike having so many devices on my counter that only do one thing poorly. I contrasted this Ninja with another Ninja that was sold at Costco and had fewer features, as well as with Cuisinart and Breville. Several unsatisfactory factors led me to sell my previous NuWave airfryer. In order to write a review, I now use this Ninja three times per day:
1. My own whole wheat bread is homemade. It makes excellent toast once you’ve found the ideal setting. Make sure to remove the sear plate if you want browning on the bottom (I keep mine in my large oven close by)
2. Vegetables aren’t enough for me when I want a late-afternoon snack and wine. I cook ONE potato in the air fryer basket with salt, olive oil (which doesn’t smoke, by the way), and a little hot sauce. It goes great with a glass of wine..and no mess as any drip goes on the sear plate (which I set under and go to make dinner there.
3. With or without a slit in the foil, I air roast fish on the sear plate.
4. I roast vegetables on an air fryer or air roaster, just like everyone else, and it always turns out well.
I only tip it up if I am cooking something else and need the counter space because I don’t like how it looks. However, it looks fantastic on the counter as is…slim and sleek.

Nearly Perfect, Expensive, Air Fryer/Toaster Oven
The only thing I’ve ever given less than five stars to is this toaster oven, and I still wholeheartedly recommend it even though it could be purchased for $100 less.
The device is fantastic; it is simple to use, functional, attractive, and comes with respectable accessories. All of the modes and options are fantastic, but I do have a complaint about the quantity. Basically everything you would hope to find great is, but the item’s finishing touches fall short of its cost.
– My unit had mess, debris, and grease from the manufacturer all over the exterior; I had to scrub, but some of it didn’t come off. After some work, it appears to be in adequate condition, but that is not an appliance priced over $300.
– Off-gassing: The manual “suggests” running one empty cook cycle to “burn off” any leftover manufacturer materials (not uncommon). I had to run four or five 20-minute cycles and do about three washings because the smell made me feel like I needed to lock the pets away. Either the owner’s manual is inaccurate, or the product’s maker is having issues. Once cleaned, this has no effect on the oven. I just spent a lot of time cleaning it, but I can use mine without worrying about smells or other issues.
– Heat Sources That Are Open: Prior models, I’ve noticed, had better protection for the heating elements, as in you couldn’t physically drip or leak onto them. The covers on this one are thin and perforated, so any drips near the heating element will fall onto it. To test this out, I’ve begun using the searing pan as a drip tray.
– Door Gap: Due to the door’s placement and design, every time I open and close it, crumbs are released from the bottom through the gap. Minor issue, but once more, I would expect that from a cheap toaster I randomly pick up at the store, not something at this price range.
– Modes: I understand that using the phrase “13-in-1” in brand advertising is effective, but for the love of God, just get the heat on. Instead of 13 modes I have to consider and consult the manual to determine which specific accessories are recommended for the mode each time I cook something unfamiliar, just give me basic control over heat distribution—this burner on this one off, fans on or off.
Overall, I really enjoy the device. Despite being an awkward size, it fit my space perfectly. I do wish that the top-tier model would simply omit the flip feature and be a little bit larger. Although I haven’t tried cooking anything large, my intuition tells me that even an additional inch in height would significantly increase your options. If you intend to use the flip function, I will say WOW. I tested it, of course, and it is very user-friendly and well made. My issues come from comparing this to earlier models that, despite having similar price tags, I simply felt had a lot more polish.
I had two particular pre-purchase worries after reading reviews…
– Exterior Heat: Since it’s a small oven, it’s obvious that the outside gets hot. No, it is not unusual. Every other similar unit will become similarly hot, so those who claim it gets insanely hot are not comparing it fairly. Despite the fact that the back requires a small amount of clearance, its bulk prevents you from pushing it up against the wall. You should allow the standard at least a couple of inches on the sides. The top warms up, but little air space is required. The oven seems to only exhaust air out the sides (where you want the most space), and it seems like the heat is only transferred through the metal in the back and on top.
– The plug is in place normally. A common complaint I’ve heard about that brand as a whole is that my most recent toaster oven had a particularly large, bulky plug that prevented me from running it normally through my cabinets. As it is small enough, you could comfortably and easily drill a hole through it to run the cable. It fit right through. It’s still a big three-prong, no doubt, but it’s not as big as some of the competitors.
